The Department of Education at Cornell University emphasizes field-based study in educational settings where social, economic, and political pressures interact to help shape policies and practices. The importance of the social and psychological context of learning and an overarching interest in field-based teaching and research are common to faculty members and staff whether they are teaching graduate students in Ithaca, conducting an outreach program in Syracuse, or leading a community-education project in Nigeria.
Lucas Fuess ’11, an undergraduate CALS Agricultural Science Education major, was chosen to participate in the USDA’s Outlook Forum Student Diversity Program. As a participant in the student diversity program, Lucas will attend the USDA’s Agricultural Outlook Forum on February 18-19, 2010, in Arlington, VA.
Professor Bill Camp is one of only six individuals nationwide who received the National Association of Agricultural Educators (NAAE) Lifetime Achievement Award on November 20th at the NAAE annual convention in Nashville, TN. Camp was recognized for his significant contributions to agricultural education at the state, regional, and national levels.

Tara Berescik of Grahamsville, NY is one of only six individuals nationwide who received the National Association of Agricultural Educators (NAAE) Outstanding Teacher Award on November 18th at the NAAE annual convention in Nashville, TN. Berescik works in close association with the department's Agriculture Outreach and Education program, has been a guest speaker in agriculture education courses, and serves as one of our cooperating teachers.

(LEAD New York) was recently honored by the Int'l Association of Programs for Agricultural Leadership (IAPAL) with their Outstanding Leadership Program Director award. The award was presented at IAPAL's annual meeting in Jackson Hole, WY on October 16, 2009. Congratulations Larry!

Professor Bill Camp received the Outstanding Agricultural Educator Award for his lifetime contributions to the field. The award is the American Association for Agricultural Education's highest honor. In addition, Camp delivered the annual "Distinguished Lecture," an 80-year-old tradition of the AAAE In his talk, “Toward an Intellectual Common for Agricultural Education,” Camp urged the AAAE to establish an open access web site for the free exchange of course materials, video clips, recorded lectures, and other scholarly content. As a result of the presentation, a committee was formed to implement the proposal.
